Lady Day makes Oklahoma debut at IDL Ballroom this Valentine’s Weekend

Theatre Pops is proud to present the Oklahoma premiere of Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill at IDL Ballroom, running February 11-14, 2016. Starring Kelli McLoud-Schingen as Billie Holiday, this intimate evening features live jazz, dinner, and beverages for a singular night out on the town.

The time is 1959. The place is a bar in Philadelphia. The audience is about to witness one of Billie Holiday’s last performances, given four months before her death. More than a dozen musical numbers are interlaced with salty, often humorous, reminiscences to project a riveting portrait of the lady and her music.

This very special musical play by Lanie Robertson runs Valentine’s weekend for four nights only featuring some of the most glorious songs ever written, including “God Bless the Child,” “What a Little Moonlight Can Do,” “Strange Fruit,” and “Tain’t Nobody’s Biz-ness.” An exclusive dinner by Executive Chef Michelle Donaldson & Tallgrass Prairie Table will be served for a special “Dinner & Show” option. IDL Ballroom staff will be serving a full bar selection throughout the evening.

“Tulsa has been without a true dinner theatre experience for some time. Tulsans are craving that experience and we thought it would be a nice addition to this production,” said Theatre Pops’ Artistic Director and Lady Day director, Meghan Hurley. “We are so fortunate to partner with IDL Ballroom and Tallgrass Prairie Table for this show. It makes for a great date night experience and is perfect for Valentine’s weekend.”

Dinner and show packages include tickets with reserved seating up close to the stage and a four-course meal which includes winter bruschetta, persimmon and arugula salad, your choice of tarragon chicken or petite tenderloin, and a flourless chocolate torte. General Admission tickets are also available for $15.00 online. Dinner and show reservations can be made by emailing or by calling (918) 902-6339. Dinner and show reservations must be made two days in advance for the performance chosen. A full menu of drink options will be available through IDL Ballroom including wine pairings.

It’s an intimate evening, up close with a legend. So pull up a chair and order up a drink because she’s got a life to sing.
